Sourcing Aged Care Furniture for Australian Independent Living Home Facilities
At Cokojo, we were tasked with finding a bespoke furniture solution to meet the needs of our clients, and more importantly, the ‘over 60’s’. Safety, comfortability, and style were the key attributes for design.
Cokojo caters for many markets; retail, residential, commercial & bespoke projects. We also work with clients in many other countries. In January 2017 we concentrated on furniture; outdoor and indoor for independent aged living. It was fun, challenging, but mostly it was great to work on a project that was close to my heart.
The first thing we did was to bring onto the team, two Australian paramedics, with over a decade of experience dealing with many areas of the medical world; the main one being aged care. Their input was to ensure that the highest quality of safety was built into the design, which has proven to be successful.
Our goal and our client’s, was to build furniture that was safe, comfortable and contemporary, with respect for the independent aged person.
All aspects of the design echoed our client’s input. Special attention was given to seat height, back pitch, depth & arm height. The outdoor dining tables were designed high enough for wheel chairs to be placed comfortably within the space.
Fabrics
For indoor and outdoor, although our preference is Sunbrella, we are not limited to that. We will source other fabrics for our clients, within the country in which we manufacture our furniture.
